Human/Environmental interaction
One of the main environmental issues in Indonesia is illegal logging and illegal hunting. Two of these problems create many issues in the modern era. Illegal logging destroys forests, mountains and terrains that has trees in them. Indonesia has many trees and are losing many of them. Companies that log trees in Indonesia are not a problem. They made contracts to plant trees everytime they cut one down. Illegal loggers log for money and does not care for the environment. The cause of this problem is the low economical status of the loggers. They want to get money but they have low education so they just log trees. This problem can be solved by strict security in large forests and mountains. The ministry of forestry should be the one to solve this problem
The second problem is the illegal hunters. They hunt many majestic animals like tigers, rhinos, exotic birds and many more animals. They hunt animals because exotic animals are really valuable in the black market. For example, Sumatran tigers are an endangered species that live in Sumatra. People hunt them for the money because they are not well educated. The minstry of forestry is in charge of this problem and should solve it quickly because this is a serious problem.
The more narrow problem is the trash and pollution in Jakarta. Jakarta has many cars and many residents. People throw trash everyday and is filling up the sewers. People throw trash to the sewers because they cannot afford to pay the company that throw their trash to the dump. The other way is to burn the trash themselves. This is the cause of many floods in Jakarta. This problem is trying to be solved by the government but have not worked. The other problem is pollution. Pollution in Jakarta is rapidly increasing because of the many cars and trash burning in this capital city. The pollution makes unpredictable weather and mutated disease. This problem can be solved by using less cars and recycling.
The positive impacts that the humans did to the environment is also important. The example of one is how the WWF helps animals and the environment to become better. They make animal reserves and protect wildlife. There are many reserves in Indonesia. They made a Sumatran tiger reserve in Sumatra and an Owa reserve in Halimun national park.
In a smaller scale, in Jakarta they have a car free day every Sunday which creates less pollution because they close the roads from vehicles running on fuel.
